Refund Policy

Last updated: October 2026

Sunmemo Desktop is a digital Windows application sold on a one-time, perpetual-license basis. For direct purchases, payments and refunds are handled by Paddle, our Merchant of Record. When you buy the activation code from our site, you transact with Paddle and Paddle's Buyer Terms & Conditions apply. (Microsoft Store purchases are handled by Microsoft — see section 0.)

Which channel did you use? Sunmemo is distributed in two ways. Microsoft Store: you install the free 7-day trial and Microsoft bills you afterwards — all activation, billing and refunds go through Microsoft. Direct purchase: you buy an activation code from our site (via Paddle) and activate it manually. The numbered sections below apply to the direct Paddle purchase; Store purchases follow Microsoft's policy.

0. Microsoft Store (free trial) purchases

If you installed Sunmemo from the Microsoft Store, your 7-day trial and any purchase are managed entirely by Microsoft:

How activation affects refunds: A Sunmemo license is permanently bound to one computer the moment it is activated. Once a license is activated, the digital product is considered delivered and the 14-day statutory withdrawal right no longer applies (EU Directive 2011/83/EU, Art. 16(m)). Please evaluate the app before activating your license key.

1. 14-Day Refund (before activation)

You may request a full refund within 14 days of purchase if the license has not yet been activated, subject to Paddle's review. This covers:

2. After Activation

Once a license is activated it is permanently tied to that device and is non-transferable. Refunds after activation are limited to cases where the software is defective, not as described, or fails to deliver its core functions through no fault of your system. "Change of mind" or "no longer needed" requests after activation are not eligible.

3. How to Request a Refund

The fastest route is to request a refund through Paddle, who holds your payment:

Refund abuse, fraud, or manipulative behaviour will be declined under Paddle's policy.

4. Processing & Effect of a Refund

Approved refunds are issued by Paddle back to your original payment method and may take several business days to appear. When a refund is issued, the corresponding license is revoked and its use must cease; continued use of a refunded license is not permitted.

5. Regional Notes

Where local consumer law grants a non-waivable withdrawal right, that right always applies and overrides this policy. Some regions provide a shorter statutory window (e.g. 7 days in South Korea, Brazil, China and Canada; 5 days in Singapore). Mandatory consumer rights are never limited.
